2026 Assignment: visual branding


HARD

When Ward Lemmelijn announced his next challenge, competing at the Hyrox World Championship in Stockholm, DPG Media launched HARD: a platform built around discipline, obsession and performance at the highest level.

To shape the visual identity, I leaned into a classic blackletter typography system. Something raw, heavy and dominant. The kind of lettering that instantly feels intense, matching the physical and mental brutality of hyrox. Strong contrasts, sharp edges and bold compositions created the base of it all. To push the identity into a more contemporary performance space, we combined it with aggressive neon accents that cut through the darker images and made everything pop hard. I also created a series of minimal stamp-style logo elements that work as small extras throughout the designs, adding texture, repetition and a more branded, collectible feel to the overall identity.

The result became a collision between old-world strength and modern sports culture: something raw, heavy and built to hit hard.
