INDIE RUNNER
We can’t ignore it: running is hot these days. But the best part of this hype isn’t just the miles, it’s the design culture that comes with it. Running gear and event visuals are becoming sharper, bolder, and more expressive than ever. Inspired by the iconic American drops and design aesthetics, this wave has made its way to Europe too...and I love it.
That’s when Indie Runner reached out, asking for a design that captured this bold new energy. For the Amsterdam Marathon, they’re organizing a unique running quest (part race, part urban exploration) blending sport, style, and creativity.
For this project, I reworked and combined illustrations from a vintage 1920s library, drawing inspiration from the iconic metal band artwork of the 80s. The result is a design that captures the energy, rebellion, and street culture, perfectly connected to today’s running scene.
