ROOKIE x HIRO
THE KONBINI
HIRO, an informal Japanese bar in Antwerp’s ‘Eilandje’, teamed up with the famous ROOKIE RAMEN, Antwerp’s ‘noodle god’, for a short pop-up event. Known for its sushi, Japanese-inspired dishes, iconic wines, sakes, craft beers, signature cocktails, and raw music vibe, HIRO’s no-nonsense approach inspired the branding.
Drawing from HIRO’s love of manga, I designed a manga-style poster with a gritty, urban twist to reflect the pop-up’s energy. To spread the word, Michiel covered the city with posters in some kind of guerilla marketing campaign...and it worked: sold out before they knew. The merch we created became a hit, reaching far beyond the city.
This branding brought the collaboration to life, perfectly complementing the magnificent food and drinks.
